The INR troublemakers

The INR troublemakers

A whirlwind week among the civil servants of the public broadcaster. Three people stepped out of line to do a bit of “blah blah blah”, and it amuses us… It’s awards season. So we have handed out this week’s Reyers awards. They will receive a BAM T-shirt to wear the next time they are on air.

A short preamble: we respect the identities of these people in the ad hominem spirit. They are sometimes a little litigious so we have no wish to spend money on lawyers. The references name them. So we don’t…

The Bronze goes to Aurélie D., editorial director and deputy head of news at the INR

Well done to her for owning up to the fact that our public broadcaster redacted Donald Trump’s inauguration in a staggering cordon sanitaire spirit, with a deliberate delay. The unease at seeing Trump return to the throne is obvious.

That does not make us out-and-out Trumpists. However, we are pleased to see his condemnations of the WHO scam, his push for transparency on buried files, his kicking of the Doxa’s hornets’ nest, …

Since then, the affair has taken a political turn in the Chamber and in the French media. Nathalie M. has been called an idiot by Pascal Praud. Clearly a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

The Silver is awarded to Hugues D., film critic at the INR

I am very fond of Hugues D.. A very good civil-servant film critic. But here, he judges the substance, not the form.

The film "Le dossier Maldoror" by Fabrice du Welz is in our cinemas. Largely inspired by the case that still makes us shudder almost 30 years later. The Dutroux affair. He takes liberties to make his opus palatable, digestible and educational. Without taking the place of the courts, it seems to me!!! That is what I understood from the director’s interviews.

Our friend Hugues blasts the film with a bazooka and explains, and I quote an extract from what the RTBF published on its website: “But that is not the problem; the problem lies in the concept ‘a film freely inspired by the Dutroux affair’. Under cover of this artistic freedom, du Welz allows himself pretty much anything and everything in the third act of his thriller, including reviving the old conspiracy fantasy of networks and Belgian notables pulling the strings behind Dutroux… This way of muddying the waters with a certain casualness – or irresponsibility? – ultimately makes the film rather hard to defend.”

He claims that network-based child sexual abuse would therefore not exist and that Dutroux was just an isolated madman. Old conspiracy fantasy. Dangerous judgement!!!

To paraphrase him, I would say: but that is not the problem. His brother Bruno is the accredited lawyer who argues, which is respectable, for Dutroux’s release. Hence a logical risk of a lack of fraternal objectivity.

We will invite him to a screening of the film “Les Survivantes” with Senta Depuydt to see his face and above all analyse his body language.

And the winner is… Sacha QR for his entire “denialist” body of work

He is the centre forward of our news. The Romelu of the penalty box of doubt-ism. Always on the edge of offside. I am referring to football because the lad went off to exercise his communication talents in another inferno, that of Sclessin. At Standard de Liège. After being sacked, he came back to curl up “nice and cosy in his basket” in the slippers of an appointed civil-servant journalist.

In his column published in Télémoustique, he dips his pen in vitriol. I quote a few choice excerpts:

  • “There remain in our society a few hundred hotheads who keep braying nonsense about Covid”
  • “The fault lies with successive crises but also with a lack of exemplary conduct by far too many elected officials”
  • “Imposing transparency on how information is disseminated, and by whom, is essential. Nor can we any longer accept that behaviour which is illegal in the street should be accepted on the Web. Freedom of expression must keep its limits, otherwise we open the door to big social zoos”

Remarks of absolute journalistic totalitarianism from the man who hosts the review of debates without ever giving the floor to those whose point of view is diametrically opposed to his own. At the trial of David Schiepers, who had in fact died, he came to testify without taking the time to listen to the defence. He condemns the lack of exemplary conduct among politicians, but without questioning journalistic ethics.

BREAKING NEWS

A favourable wind has told us that a certain Alexandre P. allegedly sent videos of schizophrenic monologues to be featured on the Grand Ficus. Humour in the form of a dialogue by a guy with a split personality. If you have the courage to watch the show, let us know whether it was featured…
