Van Ranst and the magic treatment
The BAM! team has found a KU Leuven publication dated 19 February 2020[1], a little less than a month before the first lockdown, confirming that chloroquine treatment was effective against coronaviruses.
Among other things, we learn from it that as early as 2004 a KU Leuven study proved the antiviral effectiveness of chloroquine against coronaviruses. This study was corroborated by a second, Chinese study[2], carried out in ten Chinese hospitals, which confirms the effectiveness of chloroquine against SARS-COV2.

Extract from the KU Leuven article[3]
The research director of this first KU Leuven clinical study was none other than Marc Van Ranst. At the time, he was praising on Twitter[4] and in other media the merits of this safe and effective molecule, which had been used for more than seventy years to treat malaria.

It should be remembered that Marc Van Ranst, who sat on most of the expert groups advising the CODECO, is better known for advocating drastic lockdown measures and vaccination as the “Holy Grail” than for mentioning the existence of a treatment against SARS-COV2.
Even more surprising, this KU Leuven study was confirmed by two other studies carried out by Sciensano (August 2020, January 2021[6]), which confirm lower mortality for patients given hydroxychloroquine.
Why did Marc Van Ranst change his tune and fuel the idea, perfectly illusory though it was[7], that only the vaccine would rid us of a respiratory virus?
Could there be a link with the €4,744,838 that KU Leuven received from pharmaceutical firms in 2020[8] ?
One can imagine that recognising an unpatented treatment would not have suited those who were going to sell billions of doses a few months later…
